Too Soon

Too Soon

Too Soon we gave a verdict based on what we thought we knew
Gossip and rumour became facts
Disputed by only a few.
We mourned the lack of "justice"
When we knew what they should say
The "users" and the "pundits" made quite a loud hey-day.

At last the trial was started
Still loud opinions heard
But facts or real eye-witnesses could not so far be heard.

The trial, when it was over,
Was governed by the mob
However fair they thought they were
Conviction was their job!

So once again the people spoke
Who should have kept their peace
And sympathy so often lies
With those who deserve the least.
And we will never truly know
What happened there that day
Since folks allow the media hogs to finally hold sway
