George Washington:“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
George Washington:“In politics as in philosophy, my tenets are few and simple. The leading one of which, and indeed that which embraces most others, is to be honest and just ourselves and to exact it from others, meddling as little as possible in their affairs where our own are not involved. If this maxim was generally adopted, wars would cease and our swords would soon be converted into reap hooks and our harvests be more peaceful, abundant, and happy.”
Benjamin Franklin: “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
A story has been told and retold, [Benjamin] Franklin was walking out of Independence Hall after the Constitutional Convention in 1787, when someone shouted out, “Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?”
To which Franklin supposedly responded, with a rejoinder at once witty and ominous: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
Our founders, in the process of designing our unique method of government, also recognized that as we grew, there were pitfalls. We have just seen the victory of non-virtuous people. As a result, we will see the digression of our country into a democratic dictatorship led by men and women that are willing to lie and cheat to gain political power. By restricting free speech through the media and through popular communication platforms, using computer software that permitted adjustment of votes, allowing votes of individuals that were shipped in from other states, and a number of other recorded techniques (see ), these individuals have succeeded in gaining control of our government. One only needs to listen to what they say, to understand where our freedoms are going.
1. Public funding of killing unborn babies, 2. Elimination of energy options, 3. Assuring power by packing the Supreme Court, 4. Assuring power by adding “blue” states, 5. Removal of the 2nd Amendment, 6. Removal of “freedom of speech” (already underway),
It is my prediction that with the disappearance of these freedoms, the “haves but want more free stuff” will, like Venezuela, have less and less and our leaders will have more and more. With “defund the police” efforts, crime will increase just to feed the hungry.
As a nation, we have ignored our founders warnings and must pay the consequences.
For my virtuous friends who love freedom, I suggest the following:
If you live in a “Blue” state, and can, leave. Where the current rulers will eventually conquer all of the states, you still have time if you are in a “Red” state. Another option is to move to another country. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any that enjoy the freedoms that we had in the United States.
Thomas Jefferson: “I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.”
Of course, the Jefferson option is unthinkable today. But what about in the future. There are already movements like a “Convention of the States” underway as well as the cessation of Texas that may produce some desired results.
An article appeared below this one on MeWe.com in the “Classical Liberal” group which should be considered. The article, https://mises.org/wire/great-reset-part-ii-corporate-socialism, makes a lot of sense considering what we have observed of late: tech company contributions, media bias, funding of election fraud, and the like. To me it suggested that for the “if you can’t beat um, join um” crowd there are some opportunities to make money in the stock market, at least for the first year. Companies that will benefit most and whose stock will soar are either, or associated with:
We will eventually have to pay the price for printing un-backed money. The we, in this paragraph will be those who work for a living, have small businesses, or are retired (the party elected to govern has already promised to “save” the program by reducing benefits). The only citizens that will be safe and prosper are the governing class and those who own large shares of corporations that sponsor corporate-socialism. They will eventually run out of resources to honor promises made to the “haves but want more free stuff” at which time we will devolve into a Venezuelan like dictatorship with only the governing class and the poor with no opportunities to grow.
